Product Care

For cleaning and care of all your sterling jewelry, Snyder’s Silver Lining recommends the following steps.

  • Place your jewelry in the plastic bag that it came in upon removal. This will not only protect it from damage, but it will also slow the oxidation process that leaves your sterling looking dull.
  • Over exposure to chlorine, salt water, or sweat will speed the oxidation process and tarnish will appear more quickly.  Don’t be afraid to wear your new anklet to the beach, just be prepared for a little more polishing when you get back.  However, wearing your sterling in a hot tub is NOT recommended. The combination of high chemicals and high heat will tarnish your sterling beyond polishing.
  • If you happen to forget the plastic bag over a period of time and tarnishing does occur, don’t worry. Your jewelry is not ruined. Use the Sunshine® Polishing Cloth and rub surface to be polished with medium pressure. The special polishing and cleansing action works until the cloth is completely darkened. Do not wash cloth.
  • The natural and semi-precious stones in your jewelry can be cleaned easily with mild soap and water.
  • We do not recommend using chemical silver dips of any kind on our jewelry. The anti-tarnishing agents found in these cleaners will damage some stones and will alter the appealing characteristics of the “antiqued” hand crafted sterling beads.

Special note: If you special ordered your bracelet with stainless steal magnetic clasps, use care when your hands are in contact with water.  Dry your bracelet completely. Extra moisture can cause the ends of the clasps to rust slightly over time.
